Radiant Heat

Radiant systems are becoming a popular and cost-effective way to heat Anchorage homes. Hydronic radiant floor systems pump heated water from a boiler through tubing laid in a pattern underneath the floor. Radiant heating has a number of advantages:

• The floor becomes the warmest surface in the room, not the coldest
• More efficient than baseboard heating
• Usually more efficient than forced-air heating because no energy is lost through ducts
• The lack of moving air can also be advantageous to people with severe allergies because it does not blow dirt, dust, bacteria, viruses and pet dander around the house
• You feel comfortable at a lower thermostat setting, so your fuel bills will be lower
• The system is silent, has few moving part, and requires minimal maintenance
